Born and raised in East Los Angeles, CA to immigrant parents from Nochistlán, Zacatecas, Mexico.

My folks made a living by working the fields in Escondido, the sweatshops in LA, and later by working in a warehouse as a top producing (and proud) Forklift Operator for decades.

I was raised on their anecdotes and learned how their extraordinary journeys to the US were fueled by their very normal needs and dreams. It’s because of them that I chose to be a storyteller — or rather, it’s their lives that chose storytelling for me.

I’m driven to honor them by borrowing themes from their courageous stories in fun, exciting, and commercially viable ways. Where normal characters whose faces resemble theirs and mine, make relatable choices that take them on extraordinary adventures.

That said, I aim to lean into the new-normal that my parents and countless others created for Mexican-Americans like myself in this country. Through storytelling, I want to move away from narratives that confine us to a single perspective, instead showcasing the rich diversity and complexity of our experiences.
